Researchers have discovered large amounts of arsenic, lead, antimony, and several other highly hazardous chemicals resting beneath the Great Salt Lake. As it continues to dry up, we are breathing more and more of these toxic heavy metals. Alarmingly, they are kicked up from the dried lakebed by even low-grade winds.
According to a study published by scientists at Brigham Young University, air quality in Utah is currently estimated to shorten all Utahn’s lifespans by 1-5 YEARS. Experts tell us we may only have 5 years before the lake is gone completely. Undeniably, and for the sake of ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren, we cannot afford to let the situation get any worse.
